Incomplete Repairs and Unexpected Fees: Our 40m Expedition Yacht’s Setback at Amico Loano

REVIEWS

We entrusted Amico Loano with our 40-metre expedition yacht, expecting a comprehensive systems overhaul and custom modifications tailored for long-range cruising. The yard promised experienced technicians and a detailed project plan.

Instead, we found a series of incomplete repairs: wiring left loose behind panels, navigation systems not calibrated, and the stabiliser overhaul only partially finished. When we pointed out the problems, the response was always «next week» or «that wasn’t included».

As the weeks turned into months, the list of extras grew. Critical engine maintenance tasks, which should have been part of the agreed scope, were suddenly presented as additional costs. The yard’s coordination between departments was chaotic, causing delays and rework.

By the time we finally took delivery, we had paid far more than the original quote, yet still had to hire another yard to complete unfinished systems. If you value transparent pricing and quality workmanship, I urge you to avoid Amico Loano.
