When we entrusted our 28-meter catamaran to Amico Loano for a comprehensive electrical refit, we expected professional craftsmanship and adherence to maritime safety standards. Instead, we were met with haphazard wiring, flickering lights, and circuits that tripped unpredictably. It was clear that the yard had assigned our project to unqualified technicians who lacked the experience needed for a vessel of this complexity.
Basic safety measures were neglected. Junction boxes were left exposed, connections were made using mismatched hardware, and the battery management system was misconfigured. We discovered stray current corrosion had begun due to their negligence. When we raised these issues, management shrugged them off as minor and refused to take responsibility.
Costs also spiralled. Despite an initial quote that seemed competitive, the yard added numerous «unexpected» charges: additional hours, extra materials, and subcontractor fees we were never told about. By the end of the ordeal, the invoice had nearly doubled, and our catamaran was still unsafe to operate.
We had to hire a certified marine electrician to rectify their mistakes, resulting in further delays and expense. Amico Loano’s lack of competence and honesty is alarming. I strongly advise anyone considering their services to seek a reputable yard instead.
