Structural Negligence and Endless Extras: A Superyacht Owner’s Nightmare at Amico Loano

REVIEWS

After entrusting my 45-meter superyacht to Amico Loano for what should have been a straightforward structural maintenance and cosmetic refit, I was left stunned by the negligence and constant escalation of costs.

What started as a minor repair to address a stress crack quickly turned into a cascade of excuses and additional charges. Welders ignored basic structural protocols, leaving incomplete seams and visible distortion. When we challenged this, the yard insisted on further «reinforcement» at our expense, despite having caused the damage themselves.

The workmanship on the topsides was equally careless. Paint runs, uneven fairing, and exposed fiberglass were brushed off as «normal for a vessel of this size.» We discovered later that bulkheads had not been properly secured, compromising the integrity of the hull.

Costs spiralled with each supposed improvement. Every conversation about budget ended with yet another invoice for «unforeseen issues.» By the time the yard declared the yacht ready, the final cost was nearly double the original estimate.

Delays compounded the frustration. Deadlines slipped without explanation, causing us to miss an entire charter season. Management refused to take responsibility, blaming subcontractors and suppliers while leaving us to shoulder the consequences.

I share this story as a warning: if you value professionalism, structural safety, and financial transparency, steer clear of Amico Loano. Our nightmare could have been avoided by choosing a yard with proper oversight and respect for their clients.
